Brief ·

Every team here has a different AI vendor. How do I pick one direction?

Signal detected

Your problem is not too many vendors; it is that nobody has defined the layer the vendors have to answer to, and as the PRNewswire piece from 12 August 2026 notes, buyers are finding that vendor numbers cannot even be compared against each other.

Strategic direction

Do not pick a vendor. Pick a standard, then let the vendors compete against it; the direction you are missing is an intelligence layer you own, with verified inputs and clear decision rights, that any tool has to plug into. What you are actually competing for is the ability to explain your own decisions, in real time, without a black box in the middle. Monday, freeze new commitments and publish the four questions every vendor will be scored on. In a two-day session the question I would put to your leadership team is this: when two of your systems disagree about the same customer, who today has the authority to decide which one is right?
