Jason Alan Snyder in Campaign US on the thinking behind the agency name — and the space between intuition and systems where interesting things happen.
Artists & Robots
Artists & Robots
Campaign US asked Jason to explain the name. The answer is the whole philosophy:
“The ampersand is doing a lot of work. On one side sits intuition, obsession, the irrational, and a deeply human need to make something true; on the other, scale and pattern and the cold elegance of a system that never tires. We named the agency for the space between them because that’s where interesting things happen.”
We did not name this company Artists & Robots because it sounds good. We named it because the space between those two words is where we work. Not artists who use robots, or robots that simulate artists. The ampersand. The relationship. The friction that produces something neither could make alone.
The most powerful creative work has always happened at that intersection. AI does not change that. It raises the stakes of it.
