Authorship Over Automation

Speed is abundant. Soul is the scarcity.

A framework by Jason Alan Snyder, Co-Founder and Chief AI Officer of Artists & Robots.

What it means

Producing more, faster, is no longer hard. Any team with the same tools can match any other team's volume by the end of the week. Authorship Over Automation says the thing that is now rare is a point of view a person is willing to sign.

In practice it means a human decides what the work is for, what it says, and what it refuses to say, and the machines carry that intent rather than replace it. Automation is welcome where it serves an author. It is not the author.

How the studio applies it

The pieces on our news page run under the names of the people who wrote them, Jason and Heather, and the briefs the agents write are stored unedited so a reader can see exactly what the system said and where it got it. Each is signed by whoever made it, a person or the studio.
